Avoiding the frizz.

I have the frizziest hair going, honestly I do. I also have hair that refuses to do what I want it to or look the tiniest bit sleek - think Hermione, first movie. I have been hunting and hunting for the perfect products to help combat the frizz and while my hunt for the perfect products still continues these 3 bad boys certainly push me in the right direction!  I can't remember where I saw Ogx conditioners, it may have been a youtuber but wanting to swap out my conditioner I bought the argan oil conditioner and spray. I did really love the argan oil conditioner, it made my hair stay soft and silkier but it didn't do heaps for the frizz. So when I needed a new bottle I saw the kukui - made for frizz, can't really argue with that can I? and lemme just say: this stuff is THE ONE. My hair is A LOT less frizzier when I use this and when I team it with the argan oil spray and my straighteners - sleeknesssss. I really can't rate it enough and I don't think I will be swapping conditioners anytime soon.  The argan oil spray is perfect because I hate touching oils. When using my Lee Stafford argan oil - getting it all over my hands was not my favourite thing to do. I can just spritz this on give it a moment and then straighten my hair knowing it has something looking after it - everrryybody knows argan oil is good for your hair. 
I do want to invest in more hair styling products and I know there are a few more out there to help me combat my hair so it's more manageable but these 3 are definitely keepers.

What converted me to the dry shampoo crew

I won't lie, I've been skeptical about dry shampoo for a long time, I see all the hype and thought my hair was just too greasy for it. To give an insight my hair needs to be washed every other day so if I wash it monday morning, it needs a wash tuesday night. It would get to a point where I wouldn't be able to sleep until I washed it if it felt mildly greasy. I know washing your hair all the time isn't that good for it either and I just decided what the heck, lets try this stuff.  I had preiously tried the L'oreal txt spray as an alternative and whilst it's a good alternate for hairspray it wasn't enough to act as a dry shampoo. I went for Co-lab because I really liked the bottle, maybe that's a bit stupid but it looked the nicest so I got it.( I had also seen a few good reviews... and I am a sucker for some good packaging) I also really like oriental perfumes so went for the Tokyo fragrance -while testing it I opted for the mini bottle just in case.  Anyway, if you couldn't see from the title, I Laura Boyle am a convert. It's amazing, I am well and truly on the dry shampoo band wagon! It smells amazing and there isn't a white speck insight!! It also means I can go a little longer without washing my hair so I can try and grow it out! I think £2 a mini is pretty reasonable and £3.50 for a large is pretty decent though they are £2.30 at superdrug atm!  I can't wait to get some more by these guys, think I'm going to get a mix of mini and large ones some for home and some for the road- may try the paris one!! March Favourites

Can you beleive it's the end of March already?! Crazy! with the end of March comes the much expected March favourites! So this month I have been loving:  1) MAC eyeshadow in 'Star Violet': I think this has surpassed sable in rankins to be my all time favourite MAC eyeshadow. Thank you viviannadoesmakeup for mentioning this and thus it ending up in my life! 2) Fudge Urban range - the 'Iced coconut hairspray' - I got this with a dress I ordered from Motel and it's love. This smells amazing, usually I hate the smell of hairspray but this smells like happy hour in my hair and I LOVE it.  3) Blistex 'happy lips' in strawberry - I was gifted this( along with mango) at the blogger meet up and have been turning to these to help my lips out. They smell and taste amazing, really soft on the lips! ( expect a lip balm post in the next few days!)  4) lastly I have been loving the Illamasqua vintage metallix collection. these are just so soft and creamy and look amazing on. Review: Primark Hair Rollers

I was inspired to get these after seeing Leanne Lim Walkers video, it just looked so easy. I am extremely lazy when it comes to my hair and lately I just do the whole bun thing because I can't be bothered to sort it out and it's also super quick in the morning. I have frizzy and thick hair and anytime I try to do anything it always looks the same. One of my resolutions was to start looking after my hair more and learning to do more with it so this looked easy enough....right? 
First attempt.... I'm not sure if it was either 1) my hair was too wet 2) it was too thick or 3) I am just THAT rubbish at doing anything with my hair. I like to think it was too wet because I didn't really blow dry it; I just towel dried and then blow dried with the rollers in and it then probably came out dry enough to put them in after I took them out. I found they didn't velcro well probably because the hair was too wet for them to take to. I did find my hair sticking to it and if I wanted to pull one out to redo it was like ....running a hairbrush through knotted hair... I think that's the best way to describe it. I got a slight twist in some pieces and some nice little waves at the bottom of my hair and even a nice little bit of volume and style in my fringe but learning my mistake, I was optimistic that next time I would get some juicy curls. Second attempt.... I didn't get to leave them in long enough, one hour though one curler did curl beautifully the rest just seemed to give me volume. Here's to third time lucky! 3rd time, oh god, I think it may just be I am THAT bad at doing hair, I think it was maybe too dry this time? theres no denying I get good volume but I don't seem to get that much curling. I have to pin each one in as well as they don't really stick to my hair. I think it is a combination of it being too soft and thick. I am determined to get this too work, considering they are only £2 for the larger ones and £1 for the smaller they are absolutely worth it and you can't really complain about them! Personal: Fringe envy

For a few weeks I have been umming and ahhing about getting my fringe cut back in, do I go for my time old side fringe? do I retry the full fringe? I was thinking about getting a full fringe again with my current brown/ombre hair especially after seeing this stunning picture on foxes instagram. 

I love everything about this picture and have some serious hair envy. I was thinking about growing out the fringe when my hair is pink but Melon's recent fringe addition is making me think I should keep it and just remember to keep going back for a fringe trim! ( usually I don't have the time to frequently visit and get my fringe trimmed, it's a poor excuse but it's true!)
What do you guys reckon? Whose your hair inspiration and are you thinking of a change?

Beauty review: FUDGE - Iced raspberry & vanilla styling mousse

I'm not overly adventurous with my hair, I will be the first to admit it looks awful and frizzy majority of the time and I pretty much have no idea how to style it..... but sometimes I like to try something and see if I can tame that frizzyness and make it look like I have done some kind of effort to look okay.

I wont lie I saw Iced raspberry & Vanilla and I was sold...

This doesn't have a very strong smell to it though. In terms of proper styling I haven't really tried because I am still going for the Alexa chung bed head look. This claims to tame frizziness and I am not overly sold on that either BUT when I use this and blow dry it my fringe somehow comes out amazing and my hair has strong volume at the roots so much so that I still have some volume even after I have worn my helmet! In fact after a full day my fringe is still going strong. I know most mousse would probably do this, so really this one isn't anything special but the can looks nice. ( Don't judge me) and it wasn't overly expensive... so all in all I do think its a pretty good product. A little goes a long way, literally you can speed press this and you get more then enough mousse!!

Beauty -Review Lush Marilyn hair Mask

I've been looking to try a hair mask for a while and with the recent ombre this was the most ideal time. Everyone knows that when you chuck some bleach on your hair the quality is going to go. So to stop my hair from becoming ratty I looked to hairmasks and where better then LUSH?

I had a look at a few different masks but this one was tailored to bleached hair and keeping off those red tones, kinda like a 2 for 1 for me really. It's around £9.50, it has quite a runny consistency which I didn't expect. I didn't use loads just on the ends of my hair, so the pot will last 3-4 times for me, if you were bleaching your hair all over you would probably need a pot a time and I would probably leave it on for longer then the recommended 20 minutes. It doesnt't really lighten my hair, I've been using it for 2-3 weeks now but it does keep the red tones at bay and it does make my hair soft so its enough for me to keep repurchasing! Extra note - you may smell like you've dipped your hair in tequila ( that's the smell I get from it! )

If you just want to look after your ombre once a week this is ideal for you!

How to: Hair scarf bow tie

Hey everyone!

So I thought I would do a quick and easy how to on tying a scarf round your head, you can use any scarf the one I am using is a light scarf from Topshop, it cost around £18 but I usually use vintage ones.  If its a large squarish shaped scarf like my vintage ones are just place the scarf down and fold it in half so it looks like a traingle and then roll it up!

1. Brush your hair out!

2. Dependant on how you want to style it, I used to always do a kind of ' Rockabilly ' style with a small quiff, you don't need to do this if you don't like it. This is also easier to do with a longer fringe! And I tie my hair up at the back - you can let this loose after.

3. Place the scarf on your head, if you struggle with the scarf moving around a lot, I do because my head is a weird shape, just pin the scarf in at this point.

4.Take the two sides and cross them over at the back and cross them again at the top and tie it up!

Ta-Da, told you it was simple didn't I?

Beauty -Spring 2014 Beauty Wishlist

Hey guys!
So this post is pretty lame but I'm still seriously ill and I just want to rest. I did kind of want to stop doing wishlists but I thought one last one wouldn't hurt! :)

1. Ambient lighting blush - Mood Exposure : I don't know what it is about these blushes but the inner artist in me is screaming to buy them all! They are just stunning! Looking at all of this I think Mood Exposure will be my first purchase of the lot! It seems to have quite a mauve tone similar to the Topshop blush - Dream phone that I just bought.

2. Bumble and bumble - City Swept : I've been eyeing this because it looks like a quick fix texturising spray and I think it would be perfect for work when I've taken my helmet off ( I drive a motorbike) to give my hair a little more oompf and a little less helmet hair.

3. Zoeva - Rose gold brush collection : Not gonna lie, I have been eyeing this up for months now, imagine my devastation when I finally get the money and it's out of stock!!! ( this seems to be a reoccuring theme here, definitely need to win the lottery!! ) I am obsessed with rose gold and the thought of it being on my brushes is too exciting! You get 8 essential brushes and a gorgeous elegant bag to put them all in! Perfect for travelling!

4.NARS -  Narcissist Eye palette : I did actually reserve one of these. I think I missed the call and it is sold out AGAIN. I umm'd and ahh'd about this because it had mixed reviews but the more I can't have it the more I HAVE to have it.Those two purple toned shades NEED to be in my life.

5. Charlotte Tilbury - Vintage Vamp Palette : You can never have enough eye palettes. This one is gorgeous! 4 colours that work so well together and give a new take on the 'smokey eye'

6. Estee Lauder - Pure colour envy lipstick in Rebellious Rose: I have a list of these lipsticks that I want but this is the chart topper. Nice mauve tone I think would be perfect for day to day! ( do you notice a natural mauve theme in my products?!)

7. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores - I have a pore complex. I just hate them and I will try anything to get rid of them!! I've heard a lot of amazing reviews about origins and I think this would be an ideal first purchase! I really want to up my beauty routines this year.

8.Living proof - primer : As I mentioned above. helmet hair is not a cool look, neither is windblown-to-fuck hair; which always seems to happen to me! I've seen really good reviews about how this helps hair to stay put for days!

9. Korres - Wild rose + Vitamin C sleeping mask: As I mentioned above I really want to up my beauty game in the sense of getting better at cleansing and taking care of my skin. I use a nivea night cream but I am unsure how I feel about it so I think this is going to be the next contender for my night cream staple.

Style - Grunge hair braid idea's

Hey guys!
So I thought I would try something new for this post, one of my smaller resolutions was to do  more with my hair this year and get better at styling it. Now it's so short its even harder to attempt anything sadly!

A while back I got some hoops to put in braids from Regal Rose to try something new. You can get different amounts of hoops so like 8,10 or 12. So today I thought I would try out a few idea's I've had for a while - I do apologise for how bad my braids are esp my attempted forehead plait! These are just a couple of idea's that you could do, really you can put these hoops in any braids and these would be perfect for completing a grunge effect at festivals! Something a little different from the flowers everyone has, or perhaps you can do both. If you want some better braid inspiration coincidentally Zoella has done a blog and vlog on milkmaid/ halo braids which you could use these for!

The two attempts I have tried are a behind the ear braid and a forehead one( sorry I know its insanely messy! like I said I'm a braid beginner! - mostly did these to test out the idea)

I can't wait till my hair is longer and I can start braiding easier!! ( and get some milkmaid braids in!)

Beauty: Review - Bumble and Bumble De-Frizz

So today I'm blogging about a product I've been using for a few weeks now and honestly, I'm in two minds about it.

So its the Bumble and Bumble De-Frizz, I got the travel size because B&B isn't the most bank friendly brand. The travel size is £12.50 which is  a 50ml bottle, when applying this you only need the tiniest bit so the travel size will actually last quite a while.

The product itself well.. one its VERY oily. I have a bit of a complex about oily things, I just can't stand the texture or look of it ( I actually have to dab my pizza with tissue sometimes to get rid of oils... Eurgh) so I prefer applying this to wet hair because it takes all the oil off my hands( otherwise GET A TISSUE READY). You can apply it to wet or dry hair, I have tried both and I think wet is best. When it was dry I was so worried my hair was going to look greasy, luckily it didn't!! Wet or dry it did make my hair look smoother but it didn't completely get rid of frizz.

So overall it isn't a bad product, I definitely wouldn't splash out on the bigger bottle but considering how much use I will get out of the smaller one I think it is worth it in the long run. Any reduced frizz even small is a massive improvement!!

Beauty: Review - Lush ' New' Shampoo Bar & Haircut.

Hey guys!

So I was going to wait a week or two before I blogged about this but I'm just so amazed by it I had to blog about it today!!

Some of you may be no strangers to the Lush shampoo bars but I tried my first one out this week, I wanted something small that could go in my gym bag and thought this would last longer and be easier to use then a travel sized bottle.

So I got the 'New' Shampoo bar, It says its supposed to stimulate hair growth, which I couldn't tell you about as I have only been using this a week..... but basically you ( obviously) wet your hair just sorta wipe it, so I wipe(?) it 5 times ( though I will probably do it less now my hair is shorter..) but I wipe it down the middle and on each side front and back and oh m god. THERE IS SO MUCH lathering going on, I really didn't expect it at all!! its like I've used nearly half a bottle of shampoo!!

I asked the woman in Lush if I needed a conditioner after it and she said I probably would, so the first time I tried it I didn't use a conditioner and I won't lie I was a little worried that my hair felt so dry in the shower you know when it gets all hard and you feel like your not going to get a brush through it. When I dried it though it felt really fresh and fine, I actually feel like my hair had more volume in it aswell! Throughout the day it didn't feel dry at all and when I used it with a conditioner the next day there wasn't heaps of difference.

It's got a strong smell, you can smell the cinnamon a mile off when you get this out but I don't feel like the smell lingers on your hair throughout the day which is good. It's quite a spicy smell ( if that makes sense...) and if you have smelt the Wiccy bar it's pretty similar to that.

I got the pot to put it in and it is a little difficult to get out at first, the first day I had to just leave it in and rub it on my hair in the pot. but now it gets out okay! the bar itself retails at £5.50 and I think the pot was £2.50 so its £8 in total but completely worth it, this bar is going to last ages!! I think I might try Godiva next. What's your favourite Lush bar?

continuing on with the hair theme, I got my hair cut yesterday!! It's been needed for a while so I bit the bullet and went somewhere called Chandler Rox in Urmston which has a really cool vintage rock vibe interior. I had been wanting to get rid of my layers for quite a while because my hair just always seems to stick out and its beyond frustrating, so I asked for a blunt bob with a side fringe put back in. She left the fringe quite long as we thought it would look better and cut it slightly shorter at the back. The hair cut was inspired by lily Melrose but obviously tailored to my face shape. I had gone this short before and really liked it, what do you guys think??
