Macadamia - Deep repair masque

Excuse the incredibly lame photo up there but in between moving I needed a hair saviour and also didn't get much time for blogging. I hadn't really been taking the best care of my hair - especially with having bleached ends, if I don't put in additional love, my hair becomes an absolute mare. To make things worse I got conditioning bar from Lush which made everything 20 times worse. The bar just didn't condition my hair well no matter how I tried. The bleached ends were getting brittle, really knotty and just looked in bad condition. Some of my hair was snapping from putting it in a bun so much - my hair is so heavy!! I was going through a box of samples I had and came across this Macadamia one and thought it was perfect for the job! The sashay was quite large which I needed because my hair is preetttty long and also really thick so some tiny sashay just wasn't going to cut it!  The smell of this is quite nice, it's not my all time favourite smell but it wasn't awful and it's not a strong overwhelming smell. The packet managed to cover all of my hair and spread really easy so I managed to rub it in with product left to spare. It recommends you leave it on for 7 minutes after you've cleaned your hair so I swapped this in place of conditioner and I have to say my hair was SO soft after this, it felt heaps better!! I'm already looking at getting a large tub to do once a week to keep on top of it. Even the next day my hair was still much more manageable than before, it brushed really easily and still feels really soft so this is a definite winner for me! This and a fresh cut has just been an absolutely saviour to my hair. Do you guys have any hair masques you recommend?!  Keep up to date with my latest posts by following me! :)

When it's okay to smell like wet dog

I love lush, I do... and I do love this product - there is just one thing...the smell. It smells like wet dog...a spicy wet dog. And that's okay... to smell like a wet dog for a few minutes while you cleanse your face. The other day I spoke about cleansing your face with a cleansing brush so I wanted a good cleanser to go with it. A lot of people had talked about Clinique but at £20 a go and a holiday to save for I just couldn't do it. At the last blogger meet up we were kindly given little samples from lush and this was one of them. I felt the sample didn't do the product justice so decided to get the full large sized product. Smell aside this is a really great product and to be fair the smell isn't that bad, I feel like once you recognise the smell though there is no going back... so...SORRY if it never hit you before and now all you smell is wet dog. 
It's got a thick consistency kinda like wax and does feel oily when you put it on but my skin doesn't feel oily at all after using this. It feels really smooth and fresh and the smell doesn't linger I promise! Though this teams perfectly with the cleansing brush you will need a damp cloth to get it off completely, when I first tried without it, due to the oils I found it difficult to feel like I had gotten it all off and was scrubbing for some time. The pot is around just under £6 and has lasted quite some time so it's definitely good value for money. Would I repurchase? Yes! - Unless someone can recommend a nicer smelling good value cleanser then I may reconsider! x

A lazy girls way to cleanse...

It's no secret that the past month or so has been insanely busy for me so I needed a way to be able to cleanse my skin quickly. Although I have always cleansed my skin I did want to step it up a little because I was just using a cleanser on a wipe and I was still getting some spots. I really wanted something like a magnitone because I've heard good things but for the price I just couldn't justify it as I wasn't even sure how much use I would get so at christmas I spotted this cheaper version by No. 7 and asked my parents for it.
 Personally I've never tried a Magnitone so I can't compare the two but I do really love this one by No. 7. It's got two speed settings and paired with Lush's ultrabland it manages to get all my make up off and my face smooth and soft  though I did feel the brush head was a little rough at first I think it was just the way I was angling it. This really doesn't take long to do and I actually really enjoy it! I got two extra brush heads with this as well and it's so easy to clean with some warm water and soap. Since using the two, along with an improvement in diet my skin has cleared up so much and those annoying under the skin spots on my chin are starting to show less and less. If you're looking for a cleansing brush but don't want to pay a fortune I would really recommend this!

A real cheeky party....

At Christmas I KNEW something I had to ask for was the benefit's real cheeky party set. Getting more bronzers and blushes is on my list as I really want to expand out. I also really want to try out new blush colours and thought this is the perfect opportunity to do so! at £29.50 this is an absolute bargain!  You get 5 different shades, concealer, mascara and eyeliner! BARGAAAIN. I'm just going to talk a little about the shades themselves here.  
I've wanted to try the Rockateur shade for quite a while but could never afford it and it didn't disappoint, for someone easing themselves into the world of blush I found this was a great one to start with. I really loved this and it made me much more open to trying out coralista. Rockatear is kinda like a mauve/rose shimmery pink.
Coralista was also a surprise love, I didn't think a shade like that would suit me but I've found myself reaching for it quite a lot. As the name suggests it's a gorgeous coral shade which is surprisingly nice on my pale skin! It's got just the right amount of pink hue to it! 
Sugarbomb is one I've only used a couple of times but it does look lovely, the 4 shades all mix really well together to make a subtle and buildable pinky hue on the cheekys and the purple kinda balances it out so it's not too OTT. 
Hoola, well... we all know about Hoola don't we? I knew I would love Hoola before I tried it 1) because its a bronzer and 2) it's quite similar to a shade I've tried before so it was a failsafe for me and didn't disappoint! It's the only matte shade in the palette and is a warm toned bronze and is perfect for contouring!!
Lastly is dandelion admittely I haven't really used this shade at all, I just thought it was far to pale for me but after looking in the book they give you with this they've suggested a great way to pair this with Hoola so I think I'm going to have to brave it and give it a go!

MAC - Ellie Goulding ' I'll hold my breath'

When I first saw this collection, it's safe to say I wanted a fair amount of it. I really loved the packaging and Ellie's logo went really well onto everything. Sadly with this coming out before Christmas I had to make a strategic purchase. One of my beauty resolutions was to get some more blushes and bronzers - which I managed to do at christmas! ( more to be revealed at a later date...*hint* benefit) With this being a gorgeous bronze with a little blush mixed I thought it was the perfect choice to go for.  The pink of the blush isn't a shade I would usually go for it's quite bold with a little peachy tone to it and I have to say it was a lot more pigmented then I initially thought. When I first used this I swirled my brush round the whole thing and was pleasantly surprised how much pink came out through the brown and the two colours do compliment each other quite well. I love this as a bronze by itself  it's quite warmed toned and the way they have done the packaging means it's quite easy to use just the one colour.  Sorry guys, this is sold out but if you do manage to see one I really do recommend picking it up! Charlotte Tilbury mini lipstick charms

For my birthday my amazing team at work got me this lovely set of mini lipsticks! £29.99 may seem like quite a lot for 3 mini lipsticks but when you think that 1 of these costs around £23 and this is half the size it kinda works out, plus you get to try 3 different lipsticks. I hadn't tried any of these shades before except for swatching ' bitch perfect' and deciding I HAD to have it. You also get ' So Marilyn' and ' Penelope Pink' in the set, I was surprised by Penelope pink as I hadn't given it much thought, thinking it wasn't quite my shade but it's actually a gorgeous brown-y nude whereas bitch perfect is a little more pink. So Marilyn is a gorgeous deep red, very similar to MAC's Russian Red except it's a little more deeper and less matte. 

All of these have the great quality you would expect from Charlotte Tilbury, smooth,moisturising and creamy on the lips and these are perfect to pop in your bag for a night out! They have a good lasting on the lips as well. I honestly would purchase all of these in the larger form which really isn't helping with my bank balance and the need to save - if I had to choose one first it would still be 'Bitch perfect'. You can't get this anymore as I think it's a christmas edition but I hope this helps if you wanted an individual shade - though I don't think I need to say too much to swade anyone to purchase CT - I hope next year she does a few more varieties of colour choices.

Avoiding the frizz.

I have the frizziest hair going, honestly I do. I also have hair that refuses to do what I want it to or look the tiniest bit sleek - think Hermione, first movie. I have been hunting and hunting for the perfect products to help combat the frizz and while my hunt for the perfect products still continues these 3 bad boys certainly push me in the right direction!  I can't remember where I saw Ogx conditioners, it may have been a youtuber but wanting to swap out my conditioner I bought the argan oil conditioner and spray. I did really love the argan oil conditioner, it made my hair stay soft and silkier but it didn't do heaps for the frizz. So when I needed a new bottle I saw the kukui - made for frizz, can't really argue with that can I? and lemme just say: this stuff is THE ONE. My hair is A LOT less frizzier when I use this and when I team it with the argan oil spray and my straighteners - sleeknesssss. I really can't rate it enough and I don't think I will be swapping conditioners anytime soon.  The argan oil spray is perfect because I hate touching oils. When using my Lee Stafford argan oil - getting it all over my hands was not my favourite thing to do. I can just spritz this on give it a moment and then straighten my hair knowing it has something looking after it - everrryybody knows argan oil is good for your hair. 
I do want to invest in more hair styling products and I know there are a few more out there to help me combat my hair so it's more manageable but these 3 are definitely keepers.

Lush - Rose Jam bubbleroon review

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who go amazing amounts of lush products this christmas! I've never used one of the Bubbleroons before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I had been wanted to test out the rose jam smell after hearing such good things from Alix on her channel. 
The bubbleroon is so cute and pretty massive actually, could you imagine a macaroon that size? Dreamy, It broke in half pretty easy and produced a good amount of bubbles!! ( harry had come in the bathroom and was amazed by them! kept popping his head over the bath for a sniff - thats the cat FYI)  though I'm pretty sure you would get the same amount from any of the bars so I'm not sure if bubbleroons are supposed to produce more? I don't know it was an acceptable amount anyway! I'm not sure how I feel about the rose smell; I don't quite think its for me though the cat clearly loved it and the house did smell nice and fresh for the rest of the day!!
Would I repurchase? Probably not, though I may try a different bubbleroon because it was easier to break apart and use than a bubblebar!!

Nyx soft matte lip creams - Abu Dhabi & Copenhagen

I'm obsessed with matte lip creams, after getting my red one from Sephora I just chose to wear it whenever I reached for a red & also they are perfect for festivals or hot country's so you don't have to worry about them melting. As we don't have a Sephora here I needed to find an alternative. I think I first saw these when I was having a cheeky browse on Instagram and found there was one called Abu Dhabi. If you didn't know that's where I grew up and I knew I just had to buy it because that's what it was called! I know you shouldn't do that but OH WELL. I DID. and it turns out it was the best decision ever.  I didn't think it was going to suit me after looking online at swatches but it is the PERFECT shade for me. It literally matches my lips exactly ( insert the my lips but better she-bang here) and I also selected Copenhagen as it was a stunning berry shade and we all love a good berry shade for winter!  These lip creams are so soft and buttery, they feel nice and hydrating on the lips and take hardly any time to dry out and settle on your lips. The colour spreads really well and evenly. I was a bit worried about copenhagen as berry shades can come out really patchy on my lips, at first I thought it did look quite patchy but once it dried and settled it really evened out and looked great!  these are priced at £5.50 which is an absolute BARGAIN, I think I will have to stock up on Abu Dhabi and I am debating trying Stockholm or Cannes as well!! Finally getting my hands on the tartelette palette

I knew as soon as I saw this palette I was going to own it. I asked a few friends to pick it up in america because the £45 they were asking on amazing was ridiculous! Anyway they both were unable to find it and I managed to get it from QVC for £28 which is around the asking price in the states anyway!  The packaging of this is stunning for all you fellow packaging geeks out there, I actually keep this in the box. I'm not sure why I just prefer it in the box! Overall you get 16 stunning matte shades from nudes to browns and light pinks to purples. Dreamer is a great alternate to MACs mystery for my eyebrows and natural beauty is a good dupe for the Naked 2 tease.  The colours all go really well together and blend really nicely, the light colours are good for some highlighting. You also get a really decent brush with it too and the mirror is big enough to do a lot of your make up.  This is definitely the perfect travel set! at £28 I think it was well worth the money!  I think my favourite shade has to be best friend.  What did you think of this palette?  Ciao x Keep up to date with my latest posts by following me! :)

A Charlotte Tilbury nude you need in your life

Safe to say my nude obsession is still going strong, after lusting after Bitch Perfect for so long another CT nude popped up and caught my attention.... CT's Miss Kensington. I Umm'd and Ahh'd about this because I looked at loads of different swatches to figure out how it may look on me. Easiest thing to do? try it on in store!! I'm sure you've guessed the rest of the story I bought it straight away and it was everlasting love there onwards. This is a fantastic nude and I feel the colour does adapt to the colour of your lips. It's a subtle pinky nude and looks really natural on the lips which I have to be careful of having fatter than average lips. As per all CT products the quality is amazing and this is soft and moisturising. It has a good colour stay but I do find I have to reapply but this is probably another downfall of fat lips as it's more obvious when the colour starts to fade. A potential skincare staple?

At the #nwmeet we were given some amazing products to try. One of them was this vitamin C serum by Alpha-H with the aim of improving the look of dull,tired, sun damaged and prematurly aging skin.Alpha-H also use one of Charlotte Tilburys favourite ingredients in this - Hyaluronic acid.  They state: Grape Seed and Liquorice Extracts together with New Generation Technology are blended with Botanicals to cleanse the skin and gently remove dirt and oil from clogged pores. Locking in essential moistures and keeping the skin hydrated, the high performance formula helps to reduce pigmentation on the skin whilst improving skin tone and texture. Providing ongoing protection, Vitamin C Serum repairs damaged skin cells caused by the intense heat of the sun and acne breakouts whilst preventing future skin damage.
I've been using this daily and I do notice a difference when I haven't been using this mostly in the pigmentation. My skin is visibly less red when I use this! The smell of this isn't particularily nice but it does feel refreshing on the skin and soaks up nice and quickly which means I don't have to wait long to start applying make up.  
I do really love using this but with a price tag of £58.50 I'll have to find a cheaper alternative - I'm thinking the Pai rosehip oil but if anyone could recommend one that would be fantastic!

When you thought your favourite lush product couldn't get any better....

I don't think I am the only one here when I say that the comforter bath bomb is my all time favourite. It smells amazing, produces ridiculous amounts of bubbles for  me to enjoy. When I went to Lush in June I HAD TO get the shower gel version, how could I not?!  And let me tell you. ITS AMAZING. It smells just as delicious as the bath bomb with subtle glittery bits in it. It's the perfect little pick me up after a long day. My only downside is I do think it's a little pricey? maybe thats just me? I can't remember how much this bottle was I think £9-10? I really wanted to get more but it just would have been too expensive, they had a mega bottle for £30 which is insane. it was HUGE. I've used this so much I've nearly used half the bottle I love it that much so I will definitely be repurchasing no matter what the cost but may get it as a treat every now and again. This was a Oxford street purchase but I think I've heard the liverpool one is getting it - fingers crossed otherwise I may have to frequent London more than I planned to.  have you tried this?  Keep up to date with my latest posts by following me! :)

Charlotte Tilbury light wonder foundation

I'm in love, like actually in love with this.... is it possible to be in love with a foundation? Like all things at the Charlotte Tilbury counter this really hasn't disappointed ( if you couldn't tell by my outburst) and has left me wanting MORE.  Since my trusty NARS tinted moisturiser finished I was debating picking up another bottle or getting a CT foundation. Let's be honest, it wasn't much of a debate, that gorgeous rose gold packaging drew me in very easily.  I knew she had a new foundation coming out so I popped instore to figure out which to get and after speaking with the sales assistant we figured this would be the best option for me. Just to give you the low down, generally I like my foundation very light. I don't like feeling it on my skin especially as I have combination skin and my forehead and chin can get incredibly oily. So the light wonder has a lighter more build-able coverage then the magic foundation which is a more medium to heavy coverage. The NARS tinted moisturiser was lovely don't get me wrong, I would really repurchase it but I did find my chin and forehead still getting quite oily. BUT. oh god, I had been touching my chin all day the first time I wore this like some absolute weirdo because the CT light wonder really doesn't make it feel that oily at all! It feels, hmm, I'm not 100% sure how to describe I guess it felt silky-ish in my oily spots. The coverage is really good and apart from the fact I kept touching my face in one area it stayed most of the day and  I found it covered my redness really well though there was room to comfortably add a little more if I wanted to.  The next day I didn't touch my face and it lasted all day and literally felt like I had nothing on and no oilyness! The girl at the counter also put on a lot more on me then I usually would when we tested it out and it still felt really light. At £32 I think that's a fair enough price at 40ml, which is slightly smaller then the 50ml NARS moisturiser but for all the extra goodness you can't complain and it definitely out shines NARS. ( sorry NARS) The girl at the counter was so lovely and tested out several products on me like the cleansing balm and the magic cream along with the retoucher and powder. Saaaaaafe to say even more products have been added to my CT wishlist - someone want to get me the Norma Parkinson highlighter? ...any takers?...no? Getting something from Zoeva that isn't a brush....

A while back I ordered some brushes for my mates birthday and couldn't resist treating myself and trying out some Zoeva lipsticks( you can't ever have enough right?!). I picked the shade melting kisses;this is described as a warm mellow pink, I have no idea why it's come out so coral in the photograph! I suppose it is kind of like a corally pink.  Those of you packaging nuts may be pleased to know this has magnetic closing, I know how us bloggers love a good bit of magnet in our lipsticks. The overall look is quite simple which personally I like,  it's glossy and I kinda feel like it looks a little..bulky? if that makes sense. It's not as smooth and soft as the topshop lipsticks but it still is good and the colour pay off isn't to shabby either. It cost around 8.50 euro's which I suppose is fair enough but I think there are better high street lipsticks out there which are easier to get hold of like Topshop and Rimmel. Topshop lipstick in lovestruck

The amount of Topshop lipsticks I own is quickly creeping up, at £8 a go they are an absolute bargain. I think the quality of these guys matches even MAC at times. Deliciously soft and creamy these definitely don't dry your lips out and colour pay out is pretty darn good.   The other day I had a look in the Topshop make up section and noticed a few new lipsticks and was like ohhhmygod, this one was initially sold out but thankfully Liverpool had one left. It's a gorgeous pinky rose shade, not far off MACs plumful and estee lauders rebellious rose.  I am still waiting for Topshop to bring back my beloved beatnik so I can stock up but I think this one will tide me over till then! What converted me to the dry shampoo crew

I won't lie, I've been skeptical about dry shampoo for a long time, I see all the hype and thought my hair was just too greasy for it. To give an insight my hair needs to be washed every other day so if I wash it monday morning, it needs a wash tuesday night. It would get to a point where I wouldn't be able to sleep until I washed it if it felt mildly greasy. I know washing your hair all the time isn't that good for it either and I just decided what the heck, lets try this stuff.  I had preiously tried the L'oreal txt spray as an alternative and whilst it's a good alternate for hairspray it wasn't enough to act as a dry shampoo. I went for Co-lab because I really liked the bottle, maybe that's a bit stupid but it looked the nicest so I got it.( I had also seen a few good reviews... and I am a sucker for some good packaging) I also really like oriental perfumes so went for the Tokyo fragrance -while testing it I opted for the mini bottle just in case.  Anyway, if you couldn't see from the title, I Laura Boyle am a convert. It's amazing, I am well and truly on the dry shampoo band wagon! It smells amazing and there isn't a white speck insight!! It also means I can go a little longer without washing my hair so I can try and grow it out! I think £2 a mini is pretty reasonable and £3.50 for a large is pretty decent though they are £2.30 at superdrug atm!  I can't wait to get some more by these guys, think I'm going to get a mix of mini and large ones some for home and some for the road- may try the paris one!! New MAC lipsticks??! - Introducing Diva-ish

When I went home I knew a cheeky airport MAC purchase was on the cards, initially I had gone in wanting velvet teddy but saw 'Diva-ish' and picked it up straight away. Last year I got one of the 'playland' limited edition lipsticks in 'Red Balloon' and fell in love with bright pinks and was waiting for another like this. I had never thought I could pull off a colour like that, it was stunning!  Maybe it sounds stupid but because it was limited edition I didn't want to wear it all the time and run out so I refrained from wearing this. When I bought Diva-ish and looked at it again I was like - oh my gosh! this is so similar to Red Balloon!! Then I swatched them together and they are pretty much bang on. Buzzin, I can now wear them both to my hearts content knowing I can get more! Both are amplified lipsticks so they are smooth and creamy and have a gorgeous colour pay off. So...About that MAC lipliner everyone is talking about

Over the last few months the blogging world has been going craaazzy for Kylie Jenner lips which involves two things: MACs 'whirl' and ' velvet teddy'. Using lip liners is something I am trying to get into so I decided while I was at the airport that ' whirl' was something that definitely needed to be added to my collection.  Initially I thought this would be quite nude but it is quite brownish with a hint of pink. When I first noticed how brown it was I was quite worried as I didn't think it would suit my pale skin but it still looked lovely on! Kinda like my lips but browner? like a hint of brown. At the moment I really like pairing this with Rimmels Kate Moss 03( which I reviewed here) for a nice browny-nude look but this is amazing by itself.  At around £13 is it worth the money? hmm I think so, MAC always is good quality and this lip liner matches up to that, I think it's got a good lasting time and a nice creamy feel to it so my lips don't feel too dry. The best mascara ever?

For a while now I had been looking for a new mascara, I'm not big on Mascara and I've only every really owned the falsh lash effect one but I kept finding it was clumpy and if I wore contacts it would sometimes irritate my eyes. I was umming an aahing between the rollerlash or too faced's ' better than sex' mascara as both were getting raving reviews, knowing I could get this cheaper at the airport ( thanks VAT free prices!) I went for rollerlash. I'll be honest, this deserves all the cred it's getting, the wand is really small and thin which makes it perfect for lower lashes too. It's got like a curve in one side and even has tips for which parts of the brush to use to get different effects. When I used this, wow, every lash was separated and I mean every lash. I found pretty much no clumping, only when I ran the wand through several times did an occasional clump happen and it wasn't even that bad. I also felt like my eyelashes looked longer too, so it kinda looked like I had my Tanya Burr falsies in.  Downside? There isn't really any, I did find my eyes irritated a little but a lot less than with the false lash effect, also this doesn't smudge half as much as the falsh lash - bonus!
